Browar Nepomucen is a popular Polish craft brewery that brews non-alcoholic beers, including the Ole Non-Alcoholic Spanish Gose that I got to try on my last trip to Krakow.
This time, I’m reviewing their non-alcoholic IPA called Hopollo, which is a collaboration with another Polish brewery called Browar NOOK.
This non-alcoholic IPA uses Polish hops Amora Preta, Vermelho, Książęcy and Marynka, which gives it a light and crisp body with strong hop bitterness.
While I enjoyed the hoppiness of this NA beer, it wasn’t my favorite beer from Poland and I thought it was lacking in some flavors. Read on for my full review of Hopollo.
My Nepomucen Hopollo Review
Appearance
It pours a bright and clear golden yellow with no foam head. The carbonation was thin but very lively.
Aroma
I thought the beer smelled fruity and hoppy, with notes of pineapple, citrus orange and mango.
The aroma was also pretty strong from the first pour, which is always a delight when I’m cracking open a can.
Taste
Unlike the aroma, I thought the flavors were more subdued here.
The first thing that I noticed was the strong hop bitterness, which I thought was a lot stronger than the 3 out of 6 hop bitterness scale indicated on the label.
There is a slight citrus note mixed with the taste of barley malts, with an interesting taste of chocolate and coffee on each finish.
The finish also has a lingering bitterness.
Body
I found the body to be crisp and refreshing, without being watery or too thin. The lively bubbles gave it a nice touch on the palette too.
Final Verdict Of Nepomucen Hopollo
Like the many other non-alcoholic beers I’ve tried from Poland, Hopollo is a great attempt for an alcohol-free beer.
I thought it had a good amount of hops to give it a good aroma and bitterness, but I would have preferred a stronger and more distinct flavors.
Where To Buy Nepomucen Hopollo
We bought our bottle in a craft beer store in Krakow, Poland. Unfortunately, we don’t see it being sold in the United States or the UK.
We hope you enjoyed this Nepomucen Hopollo review. Be sure to check out all of our other Polish non-alcoholic beer reviews!
