One of the benefits I’ve enjoyed since switching to non-alcoholic beers is being able to enjoy the taste of beer without all the calories.

Toronto-based Partake Brewing is known for being one of the lowest-calorie non-alcoholic beers in the market.

Their Partake Brewing Pale Ale is an award-winning pale ale with only 10 calories a can, and I’m very excited to see how this low-calorie Pale Ale tastes.

Read on for my tasting notes in this Partake Brewing Pale Ale review.

Reviewing the Partake Brewing Pale Ale

Partake Brewing Pale Ale Review

Looks

The Partake Brewing Pale Ale pours a clear medium amber / copper hue with a thick fluffy foam head that soon fizzles to a thinner foam head.

Aroma

On the nose, I was really surprised it smelled just like a pale ale.

Just like an alcoholic pale ale, the Partake Brewing Pale Ale has notes of grapefruit and pine. There is also a hint of malt sweetness in the aroma.

Taste

Compared to an alcoholic pale ale or even other non-alcoholic beers, Partake Brewing Pale Ale tastes lighter in flavors and less hoppy. I suppose that is the trade-off for being low-caloric.

On the palate, I can taste the citrusy orange zest from the hops. There are also notes of caramel from the malts and it blends well with the taste of orange zest.

There is a moderate hop bitterness which I enjoyed, since I don’t like overly bitter non-alcoholic beers.

Mouthfeel

Partake Brewing Pale Ale does feel a little lighter-bodied than the classic Pale Ales, but the watery body didn’t bother me at all since the hops really delivered on the flavors.

Overall, this pale ale feels refreshing and light, and has a medium carbonation and a dry finish.

Partake Brewing Pale Ale ingredients

Partake Brewing Pale Ale is brewed with only four natural ingredients: water, barley, hops, and yeast.

The hops used are of the fruity and floral varietals, which gives the pale ale its orange zest flavor.

Partake Brewing Pale Ale nutrition & calories

I still can’t believe that the Partake Brewing Pale Ale has only 10 calories each can and zero carbs and zero sugar!

This is truly the non-alcoholic beer that I’ve been dreaming of. It is not only brewed with natural ingredients, it is also great when I’m watching my caloric intake (which is all the time) or when I’m trying to cut down on my sugar intake.

Final Verdict Of My Partake Brewing Pale Ale Review

I really enjoyed the Partake Brewing Pale Ale and can see myself drinking this pale ale regularly. As a non-alcoholic and low caloric version of a Pale Ale, it delivered in terms of its hop flavors and bitterness.

While the flavors lack intensity, I thought the citrus and pine notes was well-balanced. That said, the aroma and flavor could be stronger, and the body could be fuller.

It tastes crisp and refreshing, and the bitterness isn’t overpowering. Plus, it is only 10 calories per can with zero carbs and zero sugar!

Best For:

  • If you enjoy classic Pale Ales, you’ll definitely enjoy Partake Brewing’s non-alcoholic take on it.
  • Those looking for a low calorie non-alcoholic beer.

Not Recommended For:

  • If you are looking for a full-bodied non-alcoholic beer. This NA beer has a thin body that might feel watery for some.
