German Rieslings are popular among wine enthusiasts, especially dry Rieslings from the Rhinegau wine region.

One of the wineries located in the Rhinegau wine region is Leitz, who also creates a series of non-alcoholic wines known as Eins Zwei Zero.

With over 200 years of history, Leitz is known for making premium Riesling wines. Will their non-alcoholic Sparking Riesling taste as good?

Find out our tasting notes in this Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling review and learn where to buy it.

A Quick Look At Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling

Produced by German winery Leitz, this non-alcoholic sparkling riesling is made using vacuum distillation.

Through gentle vacuum distillation, the alcohol is carefully separated from regular wine, ensuring the Riesling flavors remain. This method involves extracting alcohol at low pressure and temperature, typically around 86° Fahrenheit or 30°C.

If you’re not a fan of Sparkling Rieslings, Leitz also has a non-alcoholic still Riesling without the bubbles.

Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling Review

Looks

The wine pours a pale straw hue with delicate bubbles.

Aroma

Upon the first whiff, there is the scent of fresh green apples, a hallmark characteristic of Riesling wines.

Rieslings are also known for a light petrol or petroleum aroma that is created as riesling wine ages, but we did not smell any notes of petrol.

Taste

On the palate, this non-alcoholic Sparkling Riesling is acidic and sour with a profile of green apples and lemons.

That is not surprising since Rieslings have a pronounced acidity akin to the acidity levels commonly found in lemonade.

What is missing here is stronger floral undertones because the sour acidity felt overpowering. Based on the sour green apple note, I am guessing that this is a younger riesling wine produced with unripe grapes.

Mouthfeel

The body is light, the mouthfeel is crisp, and the finish is very tart and dry.

Like other wines – alcoholic or not – this Sparkling Riesling tastes a little better the next day.

Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling Ingredients

Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling contains dealcoholized wine, grape juice concentrate, and sulphur dioxide.

Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling Calories

Each 100mL of Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling contains 17 calories and 3.8 grams of carbohydrates, of which 3.8 grams are sugar.

This is a good non-alcoholic wine option when you’re looking for a low calorie or low sugar wine.

Final Verdict Of Our Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling Review

I’ll caveat this by saying that non-alcoholic wines are still not there yet in terms of replicating normal wines. Unlike non-alcoholic beers, the missing alcohol is very visible in an alcohol-free wine.

Like so many non-alcoholic wines we’ve tasted, Leitz Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling tastes good on its own, but it does not replicate a normal wine.

If you expect to taste a normal Riesling, I’m afraid you’ll be left disappointed.

However, if you want to enjoy the taste of wine without the alcohol, then Eins Zwei Zero Sparkling Riesling is a good option because it is not overly sweet like many other non-alcoholic wines.

Best For:

  • Those who like drier Rieslings.

Not Recommended For:

  • If you’re not a fan of tart wines.
