Functional non-alcoholic beverages are all the rage these days, and a company that is taking functional drinks to the next level is Three Spirit.
Three Spirit’s Blurred Vines are unlike other non-alcoholic wines I’ve tried. The drinks are made by a team of plant scientists, herbalists, and bartenders, featuring adaptogens, nootropics, herbs, distillates, and ferments.
Seeing how Blurred Vines non-alcoholic wines are supposed to improve my mood and make me feel more relaxed, I’m really excited to see if these drinks will help take the edge off after a day of work or when I’m going to social events!
Here are my tasting notes for Sharp and Spark in this Three Spirit Blurred Vines review.

A Quick Look At Blurred Vines Spark And Sharp
Blurred Vines Spark is bubbly like a non-alcoholic sparkling rosé wine and is marketed as a celebratory drink.
It features a blend of cold-brewed teas, red fruits like redcurrant and strawberry, cayenne pepper for a kick of spiciness, and functional ingredients such as guayasa, schizandra, and hibiscus flower.
Spark contains caffeine so you might not want to drink it in the evening.
Blurred Vines Sharp is a non-alcoholic white wine alternative that is supposed to have calming effects. It also features added vitamins C, D, B3, B6, B7, and B12.
Ingredients such as Clary Sage and California poppy help with stress, while Koseret and Nettle are a source of antioxidants.
Three Spirit Blurred Vines Spark Review
Looks
Spark pours a slightly hazy, pinkish amber-brown color with lots of lively carbonation.
Aroma
I have to say, I was not expecting this aroma. The aroma is really interesting and unique for a non-alcoholic wine.
It smells like hot sauce mixed with fruits like strawberries and apricots, with a light twinge of vinegar. In a way, the aroma reminds me of a light kombucha.
Taste
Three Spirit Blurred Vines Spark has a very unique taste, and it tastes like nothing I’ve ever tried before. I had to take several sips before my taste buds could fathom what I was tasting – this is definitely not your regular non-alcoholic wine!
Trying to put Blurred Vine Spark’s flavor into words is a bit tricky, but here’s my shot at summing it up:
This bubbly drink brings the heat with some spiciness, tea-like earthiness, and a bold fruity, apricot flavor thanks to the apricot juice concentrate. There’s a mild fruit sweetness to offset some of the spiciness and keep things balanced.
The cayenne pepper gives the drink its spiciness, while the blend of black and green tea gives it an herbal, earthy taste. The sweetness of the redcurrant juice and strawberry juice rounds out the finish.
Speaking of cayenne pepper, I’m not sure if it was included to create the “burn” that people associate with alcohol. I did find the spiciness a little distracting, although not entirely unpleasant. It did make me wonder what this drink would taste like without the peppery taste.
Lastly, I enjoyed the heavy carbonation, which gives Spark a celebratory feel and a great mouthfeel. That said, depending on your preference, you might find the carbonation too bubbly for your liking.
Three Spirit Blurred Vines Sharp Review
Looks
Sharp pours a clear, golden yellow color. Compared to Spark, there is almost no carbonation, with just a light lining of bubbles along the side of the bottle and on the surface of the wine.
Aroma
At first whiff, it’s got a grown-up apple juice aroma. The sweet notes are there, but it doesn’t smell nearly as sugary as you’d expect from juice.
I caught a hint of sourness, probably from the added vinegar. There is also a whiff of jalapeno in the mix, which adds a subtle spiciness to the aroma.
Taste
Blurred Vines Sharp tastes like spicy, fruity herbal tea, with a light carbonation and sweetness. Like Blurred Vines Spark, Sharp has a unique, interesting and complex taste that is difficult to describe.
First, there is some subtle sweetness from the fruits (apricot and grapes) that provides some smoothness, though I wouldn’t label it a sweet drink. The sweetness then transitions to some sourness from the vinegar, finishing with spiciness from the jalapeno.
The herbal blends of koseret, manuka leaf, and other botanical ingredients add a herbal backbone to this drink, further providing complexity and depth. The drink starts tasting more like honey as it warms up.
Sharp has less bubbles than Spark but it works. Still, I wouldn’t complain about having a bit more carbonation.

Final Verdict Of Three Spirit Blurred Vines Non-Alcoholic Wines
Both Blurred Vines Spark and Sharp are the most unique tasting non-alcoholic wines I’ve tasted thus far, and I mean that in a positive way.
The unique taste makes it hard to put my finger on what these drinks are, but overall, I have enjoyed the complex flavors of each drink, even if I’m not sure I felt the effects of the functional ingredients. I will definitely drink both again.
While Three Spirit pitches Spark as “the party starter,” I find it hard to imagine sipping on it at a festive gathering. Spark lacks the sweetness typically tied to celebratory drinks, making it a flavor I’d need some time to get accustomed to as a new kind of party beverage.
On the other hand, Sharp seem intricate for a weeknight beverage, but I find it fitting for a cozy dinner at home or as a laid-back happy hour drink.
What I loved:
- Both flavors are complex and interesting, and I can see that Three Spirit is not trying to create another “me too” non-alcoholic beverage.
- I love that the drinks contain tea, fruit, vitamins, and electrolytes. I’m not sure if I feel more social or sharper mentally, but I like the idea behind it. These are unlike any drinks I have sampled thus far, and I applaud Three Spirit for creating their own category of NA drinks.
- Blurred Vines Sharp and Spark are definitely for drink connoisseurs, not for your casual non-alcoholic drink sippers. They are complex-tasting, enigmatic, and truly in a league of their own. Even though I’ve sampled dozens of NA drinks at this point, I don’t feel like I have the palate or the vocabulary to fully appreciate these drinks or do them justice in a write-up.
What I did not enjoy:
- My biggest gripe is the spiciness. I’ve heard of non-alcoholic drink companies adding spicy ingredients to their drinks to create that characteristic alcohol burn. I have to say I’m not a fan of the spicy burn with these two drinks.
- The burn did not remind me of alcohol; rather, it made me wonder, “why does this drink taste spicy?” I find the spiciness to be unnecessary and distracting from an otherwise herbal/fruity drink.

Nice reviews! I appreciate the detailed ands honest views. Too many sites are semi-promoting the products and I find your site reviews to be more straightforward, like you are chatting with me around the table casually sharing your opinions of the products.
Have you reviewed Three Spirits other products, Social, Livener, and Nightcap? Like Tenneyson, they are creating stand-alone NA products not trying to mimic anything. It looks like this class of product has the most promise in the NA spirits class. Other NA spirits I have tried do ok in a cocktail but do not do well neat or on the rocks.
I am bookmarking your site for future reference! Keep up the nice work!
Hey Ray, thanks so much for your lovely feedback! It really made our day reading it. We are in fact trying the other Three Spirits products at the moment, as well as Tenneyson, we just need to find the time to write the articles. Thank you so much again Ray!
