Do you enjoy that mouth-puckering taste of a glass of lemonade or sour candies like Warheads? Then you’ll probably love non-alcoholic sour beers – the sourness and slight tartness will make your eyes squint and face all crunched up.

Sour beers, or sour ales, are made with wild yeasts that produce a sour or tart flavor. The sourness can range from a mild citrus flavor to a face-crunching level of acidity. They also often feature fruit flavors such as cherries and raspberries.

After trying various non-alcoholic sour beers, my current favorite is Bravus Raspberry Gose. I appreciate that it’s sour without being overly puckering, and the sweetness from the raspberries is well-balanced by the addition of pink salt.

Besides Bravus Raspberry Gose, here are my other top picks for the best non-alcoholic sour beers to try in 2024:

  • If you’re looking for a well-balanced sour beer, then the best non-alcoholic sour beer to try is Bravus Raspberry Gose.
  • If you’re looking for an interesting fruity flavor, I like the use of dragonfruit in Untitled Art Non-Alcoholic Mango Dragonfruit Sour.
  • For a Berliner Weisse-style non-alcoholic sour beer, I like Woodland Farms Brewery Ruby Sour Ale.

1. Bravus Raspberry Gose

Bravus Raspberry Gose

This is my number one NA sour beer pick for 2024 because I enjoyed how refreshing and well-balanced the flavors are.

Bravus Raspberry Gose is a light, refreshing non-alcoholic Gose beer with raspberry tartness. I thought it has the perfect balance of sour and tart, with a tiny touch of pink salt to balance some of the sweetness of the raspberries.

This Gose has won two gold medals, and I can see why. If you enjoy raspberry Lambics and you have to avoid sugary drinks, give this Gose a try.

Order directly from Bravus website (within the United States).

2. Untitled Art Non-Alcoholic Mango Dragonfruit Sour

UNTITLED ART Non-Alcoholic Mango Dragonfruit Sour

I love Untitled Art’s non-alcoholic brews and their non-alcoholic sour ale does not disappoint.

This Mango Dragonfruit Sour is brewed using real fruits like mango, pink guava, and red dragonfruit.

Dragonfruit is not a fruit I often find in beers, but I believe the mango-dragonfruit combination gives this non-alcoholic sour ale a robust mango note with plenty of fruit flavors that feel both sour and refreshing.

3. Woodland Farms Brewery Ruby Sour Ale

Woodland Farms Brewery Ruby Sour Ale

The Ruby Sour Ale by Maine’s Woodland Farms Brewery is modeled after its alcoholic style cousin the Berliner Weisse. It is brewed with real raspberries and this sour ale has a slightly tart finish.

I find that this sour ale has a nice sourness and a great mouthfeel, with just the right amount of tartness. I would recommend this tasty fruity beer to those who enjoy their non-alcoholic beer with a sour kick and the taste of red berries.

4. Go Brewing New School Sour

This non-alcoholic sour beer by Go Brewing is packed full of strawberries and blackberries, with no added artificial flavors or additives.

I appreciate its well-balanced sweet and sour flavor profile and a bright tart finish. The flavors are bursting with strawberries and other berries.

5. Partake Brewing Peach Gose

This non-alcoholic peach gose by Canada’s Partake Brewing is delightfully light-bodied and sweet (but not too sweet) and a great option for those who prefer a sweeter sour beer taste.

It has a hint of tartness, natural peach flavor, and its bubbly body will refresh your palate.

6. Mash Gang x Vault City Brewing Only In Dreams

Mash Gang Vault City Brewing Only In Dreams

“Only in Dreams” is a non-alcoholic sour beer co-created by the UK’s Mash Gang and Scotland’s top sour beer maker, Vault City.

Taking inspiration from the flavors found in a strawberry jalapeno margarita, this non-alcoholic sour beer offers a delightful mix of sweet, sour, and spicy notes.

It’s safe to say that this non-alcoholic sour beer stands out as one of the most unique I’ve come across. I have found it helpful to approach it more as a sour, fruity mocktail than a traditional beer.

Order from non-alcoholic drinks retailer Dry Drinker (within the UK).

7. Mikkeller Alcohol-Free Henry Gose Lightly

Mikkeller Alcohol-free Henry Gose Lightly

From one of my favorite breweries comes this thirst quencher—a delicious non-alcoholic sour with a faint note of coriander.

It offers a nice blend of lemon sourness and saltiness, although I found the sourness to be a bit puckering. I feel that this non-alcholic beer might be too sour and salty for some people’s liking.

Order from non-alcoholic drinks retailer ZeroZilchZip (within the UK).

8. First Chops OOH! Pineapple Sour

First Chops OOH! Pineapple Sour

This tangy pineapple sour is made with proper pineapple and is a great puckering thirst quencher.

Brewed with real fruit puree, this non-alcoholic sour beer has pineapple aromas, tart on the tongue, and a sweet malty finish.

I thought the tropical fruit flavor could be a little stronger, but overall, I really enjoyed this nice refreshing fruity sour beer.

9. Jump Ship Chuckleberry Sour

Jump Ship Chuckleberry Sour

I had never heard of chuckleberries until I came across Jump Ship’s Chuckleberry Sour.

This non-alcoholic sour beer from Scotland is brewed using a mix of redcurrant, gooseberry, and jostaberry, infusing the beer with a well-rounded fruity flavor.

Overall, I found this non-alcoholic beer to be tart, tangy, and refreshingly delicious.

Our Tip On Drinking Non-Alcoholic Sour Beer

Ready to crack open one of the above non-alcoholic sour beer? Make sure you pour the sour beer into a glass and sip it instead of chugging it from the bottle or can.

Sour beers are best served between 45 and 50 degrees Fahrenheit, or 7 to 10 degree Celsius.

If you want to further enhance the aroma and sparkling effervescence, I recommend using a tulip-shaped beer glass instead of a pint. The shape of a tulip glass allows the sour beer to breathe and release the aroma from the head of the beer.

If you’re pairing a sour beer with food, its uniquely tart flavor and aroma will compliment spicy food, deep-fried food, cheese, egg dishes, seafood and other salty, cured meats.
